The first thing you must understand is that, in Quebec, the law provides that only the Société des alcools du Québec has the authority to import alcoholic beverages or to purchase them from another province. Any person, including Internet users, desiring to turn to sources abroad or in another province to obtain alcoholic beverages, must be 18 years of age or over and must deal directly with the SAQ through its private ordering service. This requirement applies regardless of whether the items in question are purchases, gifts, donations, bequests, or travel souvenirs.
Are you looking to purchase foreign products which the Société des alcools du Québec doesn't list?
The SAQ gives all Quebec residents over the age of 18 or any authorized commercial entity the possibility of purchasing alcoholic beverages not available in its network through private orders.
Transport and customs clearance charges, taxes as well as the SAQ mark-up will be added to the product price. The SAQ will confirm the sale price of the product once the supplier confirms the purchase order. The SAQ will also let you know when the order has arrived.
