New President and Chief Executive Officer at the SAQ as of January 1, 2014

Montreal, November 20, 2013 – The Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ) welcomes the appointment of Alain Brunet as its next President and Chief Executive Officer. Under the Act respecting the Société des alcools du Québec, the Quebec government appointed Mr. Brunet earlier today, based on the recommendation of the Board of Directors and taking into account the expertise and experience profile drawn up by the company.

Mr. Brunet began his career at the SAQ in the Sales Department in 1981. Since 2008, he has been Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer, as such heading the Procurement and Merchandising, Sales, Real Estate and Engineering, and Logistics and Distribution divisions. His main mandate has been to integrate and optimize the entire supply chain.

With solid experience in managing sales network operations, Mr. Brunet holds an MBA from McGill University and HEC Montréal. Among other accomplishments, he is one of the persons responsible for introducing major innovations at the SAQ to deliver products and services that meet customers’ needs, such as the in-store taste tag system. Known for his leadership and mobilizing skills, he has a proven ability to rally and motivate teams of employees and partners around shared objectives and specific strategies.

Mr. Brunet will officially take office on January 1, 2014.

The SAQ wants to thank Philippe Duval, who did not seek a new term. Since June 2008, Mr. Duval has led the SAQ to reach record net earnings, maintained the customer satisfaction rate at an exemplary level and built a harmonious work climate with the company’s employees and industry partners. We wish him every success in his new endeavours.
