Detailed info

Joseph Phelps was the head of one of the largest construction businesses in the 1960s until his career took a change in direction. He was strongly attracted by the world of wine, and visiting the Napa region convinced him to take the plunge. In 1973, he acquired his vineyard near St. Helena and planted his first Cabernet Sauvignon vines. Since then, the winery has stood out through his initiative, vision and passion. Today with over 150 hectares of vineyards, parts of which are biodynamic, the winery produces exceptional wines (Insignia, Backus, etc.), particularly in the Napa Valley (p. 16). After many years of research, Joseph developed his vineyard in the Sonoma region in 1999 with the help of his son Bill. A little bit of everything for all kinds of wine lovers.
