Montreal, December 2, 2025 – True to its commitment to be involved with the community, the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ) is launching an initiative in support of Food Banks of Quebec (FBQ) that will make a real difference for thousands of families. From December 4 to 10, the SAQ will donate two meals to the FBQ for every Origine Québec product sold in its stores. Customers who want to contribute more will also be able to make a direct donation at checkout.

At the SAQ, we believe that solidarity is essential, especially at a time when needs are reaching new heights. Thanks to the generosity of our customers and employees, we can help families experiencing food insecurity to celebrate the holidays with dignity.
For 16 years now, the various campaigns led by the SAQ – and your support of each of them – have raised more than $20 million for Food Banks of Quebec, providing millions of meals to families in need. If ever there is a time for solidarity, it is during the holidays, when a number of families face economic difficulties. Together, let’s keep our partnership with the FBQ thriving and make the holidays happier for everyone.

A worrying trend 
The need is enormous and skyrocketing. The faces of those dealing with food insecurity are many: 

  • 3.1 million requests for food assistance answered every month;
  • More than 1 million persons assisted in a single month (across all services), a record level of use;48% of assisted households are families with children.
  • This year, 47,479 more children have taken advantage of food assistance than in 2022. 

About Food Banks of Quebec 
The Food Banks of Quebec (FBQ) network is present throughout Quebec with 33 regional members, many of which operate under the Moisson banner. They provide nutritious foodstuffs to more than 1,400 community organizations that deliver food assistance to more than 600,000 persons a month. Since 1988, the FBQ has made it possible for resources, expertise and information to be pooled in order to fight food insecurity and alleviate hunger among vulnerable populations.
