Despite capricious and generally rainy weather, the few weeks of sunshine at the end of summer made it possible to produce wines with an elegant structure, carried by silky, sometimes even powdery tannins. It is an "uncompromising" vintage, where sorting operations — manual, optical or densimetric — were essential to preserve only the best.

This vintage also embodies a notable evolution in the intentions of Bordeaux winemakers: To offer wines with a style that is more accessible in their youth, without sacrificing their aging potential.
