Last summer, The Macallan unveiled the new visual identity for its Double Cask and Sherry Oak Timeless Collections. The rebrand honours both traditional know-how and modern creativity. The whiskies and their new look make for exceptional Christmas gifts and are simply wonderful for savouring during the holidays.
Here’s some delicious inspiration to help you choose the right bottle—or bottles—to liven up your get-togethers.

The various whiskies made by The Macallan are differentiated through the types of casks used for the maturation process, which has a direct influence on the aromatic profile. All are known for being smooth and fruity rather than smoky.
The Double Cask collection: A great introduction to the world of whisky.
The Double Cask 12 Years Old and Double Cask 15 Years Old represent the perfect combination of two types of oak—American and European—seasoned with sherry.
The 12-year is smooth and pleasant, with notes of fudge, vanilla and candied orange and lemon. The light, woody and spicy finish lingers nicely without being too intense.
On the other hand, the 15-year is more complex and structured, with a rich aroma of raisins, butterscotch and warm spices like nutmeg and cinnamon, as well as a longer, woodier and bolder finish.
The Sherry Oak collection: An exclusive aging process in sherry-seasoned European oak casks
The maturation process imparts deep, rich notes of dried fruit, wood and ginger that get even stronger over time.
The Sherry Oak 12 Years Old is quite approachable, with a relatively light texture and the aroma of dried fruit, vanilla and a touch of oak and warm spices.
The more intense and complex Sherry Oak 18 Years Old offers the fragrance of treacle tart, macerated raisins, orange and cinnamon. The flavours of dark chocolate, dates and apricot are balanced by the scent of oak and vanilla.
Annual limited editions: Shades of depth
The bold Classic Cut was developed to provide an intense aromatic experience and is notable for its dark amber colour. The aroma gives off orange oil, barley sugar, creamy milk chocolate with caramel wafers, vanilla panna cotta, and freshly baked apple turnover. The flavour brings to mind icing sugar, grapefruit, mandarin and lemon-zested meringue. The long, persistent finish highlights the grapefruit and melon qualities and a warm touch of woody spices.
These six options across three collections from The Macallan show that there’s always a good reason to treat yourself and those you love. Serve up the fun of trying something new at your next party and raise a tulip glass to warmth, new beginnings and a happy 2026.
