  1. ''New image, new cuvées. The range offered by Le Chat Botté, a Hemmingford estate located a stone's throw from the Bacchantes vineyard, now includes a pétillant natural made with White Frontenac, which is macerated with the skins for five days, hence its name: Petnat Orange. Contact with the skins exacerbates the tropical aromas and brings a slight tannic sensation, which blends harmoniously with the roundness of the fruit and rather persistent bubbles. Vinified without the addition of sulfites; original and well-made.''

''A pétillant naturel from 40 to 80 year old vines with zero chaptalization, zero liqueur de tirage, and zero dosage. Aged 24 months on the lees. This is one of the better pet-nats I’ve tasted. Lemon and pineapple on the nose, with an underlying herbal character, and a long creamy finish. 2020-2035.''

''Wafting from the glass with scents of confit citrus fruit, lemon zest, spring flowers, almond paste, pastry cream and wet stones, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and precise, with terrific cut and tension, concluding with a long, saline finish. An additional year before disgorgement delivers a less primary, more integrated, seamless Champagne. 2022-2040.''

''Opening in the glass with scents of sweet mirabelle plum, honeycomb, orange oil, bee pollen and spices, it's full-bodied fleshy and seamless, with a satiny attack that segues into a vinous, enveloping mid-palate that's complemented by a fine, pillowy mousse. Concluding with a sapid, penetrating finish, 2018 was the first vintage in which Collin employed his new Coquard press, and it doesn't seem fanciful to imagine that this contributes to the notable finesse of this release. 2022-2035.''

''Coulon's NV Brut Heri-Hodie is a lovely wine, bursting with aromas of crisp stone fruit, pear, freshly baked bread and a delicate top note of petrol. Medium to full-bodied and ample, with racy acids and a sweet core of fruit, it's a charming, seamless wine of considerable incipient complexity. 2022-2032.''

''Wafting from the glass with aromas of crisp golden orchard fruit, mirabelle plum, clear honey, freshly baked bread and buttery pasty, it's medium to full-bodied, pillowy and layered, with superb intensity without weight, racy acids and an attractive pinpoint mousse. Concluding with a long, intensely saline finish, this is a brilliant effort for this singularly underrated producer! 2021-2041.''

''This elegant rosé is like fine, raw silk on the palate. This is understated at first, with minerally oyster shell and smoke notes transitioning as the profile expands on the palate to flavors of Asian pear and dried white cherry, almond paste, fleur de sel and pink grapefruit peel. Creamy and spiced on the lingering finish. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Drink now through 2025.''
