The Côte-Rôtie "La Reynarde" shakes up Maison Guigal’s iconic "trilogy". No longer three but four, "La Mouline", "La Turque", "La Reynarde" and "La Landonne" are now collectively nicknamed the "LALA’s". Aged for 40 months in new oak barrels and crafted for long-term cellaring in keeping with the estate’s long-term vision, this cuvée rewards patience and is already stirring the interest of the most discerning enthusiasts.

Made from 100% Syrah from vineyards with an average vine age of 10 years, it reveals a deep red colour with dark highlights, alongside an intense nose of small black fruits, spices, and toasted notes. The palate is concentrated and highly expressive, with a powerful yet harmonious tannin structure.

    What Wine Advocate says:

"The debutant 2022 Cote Rotie La Reynarde is a standout in Guigal’s collection and notably less oaky than its counterparts. It's crafted entirely from massal selection Syrah grown on a 1.6-hectare plateau in the Fongeant sector, where the soil is a mix of granite, schist and iron-rich clay. Offering up a complex and engaging bouquet of dark wild berries, iris, lilac, spices and a hint of cinnamon, it’s full-bodied and well-structured, boasting a dense tannic chassis, vibrant animating acids and a long, ethereal finish characterized by unusual chalky grip. With a unique identity within the range, this cuvée will benefit significantly from 4-5 years of cellaring after release and has the potential to reach its 30th anniversary in fine form. A remarkable first release, indeed!"

The Côte‑Rôtie "La Landonne" is a massive, pure wine. With remarkable intensity of both flavour and colour, it is a benchmark wine for long cellaring. The attack on the palate is powerful, with a dense, commanding tannic structure. It offers great richness and concentration. Made from 100% Syrah from vines with an average age of around 50 years.

    What Vinous says:

"The fabulous 2022 Côte-Rôtie La Landonne unwinds with boatloads of ripe black fruits, graphite, mocha, wood smoke and a pinch of vanilla. Bold and generous, its massive tannic structure will require plenty of patience in the cellar. At this stage, I do not see the 2022 reaching the stratospheric heights of the magical 2020, but if all comes together as it should, the 2022 should prove to be a rock solid La Landonne with a long life ahead."

One of the estate’s flagship wines. Powerful and spice‑driven, its Côte Brune terroir with Blonde accents lends it great elegance. The palate is harmonious, with a silky texture and notable concentration. Made from 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier, from vines averaging around 40 years of age, it reveals a ruby‑red colour with dark highlights and an intense nose of small red fruits and spices.

    What Vinous says:

"The magnificent 2022 Côte-Rôtie La Turque wafts up with espresso, blackcurrant, black cherry, pencil shavings, crushed violets and wood smoke. Dark and brooding, this is a remarkably charming La Turque, much more so than the muscular 2019 or 2020. Nonetheless, the 2022 La Turque is framed by an intricate tannic web and marked by elevated flavor concentration, ending with ample persistence on the complex finish."

One of the estate’s most emblematic crus. Only a handful of bottles are produced each year from this vineyard located in the heart of Côte Blonde. On the palate, it offers a voluptuous, silky texture with intense aromatic expression. It is made from 89% Syrah and 11% Viognier, with vines averaging 90 years of age. A beautiful harmony between aromatic finesse and the explosive richness born of its concentration.

    What Wine Advocate says:

"Notes of iris, oak, ripe dark berries and spices intertwined with an oaky character preface the 2022 Cote Rotie La Mouline, a blend of 89% Syrah and 11% Viognier. Full-bodied, dense and suave, it's enveloping and concentrated. With a rich chassis of tannins and a muscular yet sappy structure, it concludes with a long, oaky and spicy finish. Compared to its counterparts, La Mouline is always more enveloping and charming when young; this vintage is no exception."
