Arran Island was home to no less than 50 distilleries, for the most part clandestine, in the 19th century. Isle of Arran Distillers, founded in 1995, is today the sole scotch producer of the region and has known rapid international success. Following an eight-year élevage, this Single Malt is then affined in Sauternes casks, the famous Bordeaux region known for its sweet wines. The mouth, round and powerful, reveals notes of cedar, honey, tobacco, apricot, pear and ripe apple.
