Runaway woman (Donnafugata), Maria Carolina found refuge on the lands of Sicily after fleeing Naples in the early 1800s. Paying tribute to this queen, the estate offers a Nerello Mascalese from grapes growing on the slopes of Mount Etna. Aged for 14 months in second and third fill French casks, it offers a supple, well-structured palate with flavours of apple, strawberry, soft spices and cedar.
