“The 2016 Pinot Noir was aged for eight months in mostly French oak (second to fourth use) and comes in at 12.5% alcohol. Cortes de Cima is doing nice work with this unusual grape (for Alentejo), although there is still some work to be done. Sourced from the winery's cooler coastal properties, this is very elegant. Seductive in texture, it caresses the palate. If the fruit does not seem quite as classic, lifted or defined as it was on the 2015, it has certain subtle persistence that is appealing. The tannins are ripe but provide support. You can still drink this right now.”
