- 45 ml (1 1/2 oz.) American whiskey
- 15 ml (1/2 oz.) lemon juice
- 15 ml (1/2 oz.) cane syrup (simple syrup)
- 1 maraschino cherry
- Ice cubes

Combine ice cubes and all ingredients except cherry in a shaker filled with ice.
Shake vigorously 8 to 10 seconds.
Pour into old-fashioned glass.
Place maraschino cherry in the glass.
