Quebec products in the spotlight to benefit Food Banks of Quebec

Montreal, March 31, 2021 – For the 12th edition of its campaign in support of Food Banks of Quebec (FBQ), the SAQ is encouraging customers to show their solidarity during this difficult time due to the health crisis by buying local products. From April 1 to 7, 2021, the SAQ will donate one meal to the FBQ for each Quebec product it sells.

During the campaign, customers will also be able to make donations at the checkout counter and buy packaging products (bags, paperboard or wood gift boxes) and reusable carrying bags, all to the benefit of the FBQ. Donations can also be made online on the Food Banks of Quebec website.

These acts of generosity will help support the FBQ, which provides assistance to more than 500,000 persons a month in every region of Quebec. The funds raised will be redistributed to all Moissons organizations in Quebec and will make a difference in the lives of Quebecers in need.

“A number of people are finding themselves in a precarious food situation, especially during this pandemic,” said Catherine Dagenais, President and Chief Executive Officer of the SAQ. “That is why it’s more important than ever to offer our support to all who are struggling to meet a need as basic as having enough to eat. I encourage all our customers to join in and be generous.”

Loyal support for 12 years
Thanks to the generosity of its customers and the involvement of its 7,000 employees, the SAQ has funnelled more $11.2 million to the FBQ network since 2009. The funds are used not only to meet the requests for assistance it receives but also to support projects to acquire equipment needed to carry out its mission.
