Lac Mégantic
August 10 to 13, 2023

Pascal Asselin, a cashier-salesclerk at the SAQ Vanier store who’s better known under his stage name Millimetrik, will be part of the show on August 12. He is, of course, chuffed that festival programmers are making more room for electronic music.

With the festival’s slow-living philosophy, organizers are promising human-scaled experiences, something that makes Pascal smile: “I’m a dreamer and very open to human interactions. Sometimes, I find myself thinking that, though I’m only at an event for a while, I may still reach somebody without even knowing it. Other times, I have significant encounters that open the door to new projects.”

The colline festival takes place during the Perseids, the mid-August meteor shower, and in the middle of the Mont Mégantic International Dark Sky Reserve. “I’ll be doing my show on the prairie,” he adds. “I’m told the sky should be amazing, provided the weather cooperates.”

Whether performing his set for a crowd on the Plains of Abraham, accompanied by dancers and fireworks, or solo for just a few persons, Pascal always adopts the same musical approach.

“Creation is an essential part of my process and I only play my own music. If the audience doesn’t know me, they’ll have an opportunity to discover me.”

As he celebrates a 20-year career in music, Millimetrik’s next album will be released on October 20. While waiting for it, listen to the One employee, two passions episode of the Sous le bouchon podcast (in French only), in which the artist explains how he combines his musical career with his job at the SAQ.
