Participation terms

The Société des alcools du Québec offers you, as a private customer, the opportunity of participating in draws for products allocated by lottery on SAQ.COM. To get a chance to buy these products, you must have an SAQ.COM beforehand or create one.

Product allocation method

Given that products allocated by lottery on SAQ.COM are available in limited quantity, the SAQ reserves the right to assign the possibility of purchasing these bottles through a randow computerized draw and to limit the number of bottles ordered per client.

Product pricing policy

 Prices displayed on SAQ.COM are the prices set for the sale to private customers. Restaurant and bar owners who hold a permit from the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux are not allowed to participate in this lottery. The maximum quantity allowed for purchase is the quantity indicated when you entered the draw.

Purchasing products

 The lottery on SAQ.COM is intended to establish the participants who will be able to buy the desired products. After the draw, you will receive a confirmation email indicating if certain products were allocated to you or not. You will then have to buy products allocated to you withing the indicated time period. Your purchase is final.

  • What is the lottery?

    The lottery is a process that randomly allocates the possibility to purchase products selected by a client among SAQ.COM offers of rare and sought-after products.

  • How can I enter a lottery?

    To enter a lottery, go to the catalog page of a given event. A calendar of events will be published shortly on SAQ.COM.

    To enter the lottery, follow these steps:

    1. Go to the catalog page of a given event;
    2. Click on the products you want;
    3. In the product page, indicate the number of bottles you want to buy if this product is allocated to you by lottery;
    4. Click on Enter the lottery;
    5. A pop-up window will open asking you if you wish to receive a confirmation by email. Select yes or no. Please note that you don’t have to ask for a confirmation email since all your entries will be saved in the My lotteries page of your account;
    6. Repeat the previous steps for each product you want.
  • How does the lottery work?

    For each event that matches your SAQ Inspire client profile, you will receive a newsletter indicating the participation period. You must enter for each product during the participation period.

    Once the participation period is over, the computerized lottery process will randomly allocate products to participants.

    You will receive an email informing you is products were allocated to you or not.

    Statuses at this stage are:

    • Product awarded in the draw
    • Waiting list—2nd draw

    If the lottery allocated you products for which you entered, you will have a limited time period to purchase them. Please note that, at this stage, you can buy less bottles than the number initially indicated. However, your purchase is final. Bottles not purchased will no longer be reserved for you, and will eventually part of a second lottery.

    If the lottery didn’t allocate you products for which you entered, you won’t be able to purchase products at this stage. However, please note that certain products could be part of a second lottery, if some participants don’t go through with their purchase. This lottery is automated and you don’t have to participate again.

    Please note that customers who won the chance to purchase products in the 1st round must claim them to be eligible for the 2nd draw for products that are still available.   

    If you did not win the chance to purchase products in the 1st round, you are automatically eligible for the 2nd round for products not claimed in the 1st round.

  • Why is there a limit of bottles per client?

    In general, products allocated by lottery are rare and sought-after products in high demand. In order to guarantee their accessibility to the greatest number of people, the SAQ reserves the right to establish bottle purchase limits. If the product is allocated to you, you will be able to buy the final quantity you chose, provided that you don’t go over the purchase limit.

  • I see that some products were allocated to me? What does it mean?

    You must pay the products for which you entered the lottery, that were allocated to you and that you wish to purchase.

    The lottery on SAQ.COM is intended to randomly select participants who will be able to buy the products in question. It doesn’t draw the products as such.

  • How will I know if I have won the lottery, that is, that I have the opportunity to buy the products allocated to me?

    You will receive a confirmation email mentioning which products were allocated to you after the participation period and the start of the automated lottery process. You can also check your SAQ.COM account under My lotteries to see the status of your lotteries.

    You will have a limited time period to buy the products allocated to you. Quantities purchased are final. Quantities not purchased will eventually be released in a second lottery.

  • How much time do I have to purchase the products allocated to me?

    You will have a limited amount of time to purchase the products allocated to you. Please refer to the event sale conditions for exact dates and purchase period.

  • Do I have to purchase all the products allocated to me? Can I change my mind on the quantity I asked for? Will these products still be reserved for me after my purchase?

    You are under no obligation to purchase the products allocated to you via lottery. You will have a limited amount of time to complete your purchase following the draw. After the deadline, you will no longer be able to exercise your right to purchase these products and therefore the remaining allocation will not be billed to you.

    Your purchase limit is the quantity you specified when you entered the draw.

    For example, if you indicated five (5) bottles for product X, and this product is allocated to you, you can purchase five (5) bottles or less of product X. Your purchase is final: if you decide to buy three (3) bottles of product X instead of five (5), it will not be possible to purchase the remaining two (2) bottles allocated to you at a later time. These two bottles will be released and could be part of a second draw.

    Please note that customers who won the chance to purchase products in the 1st round must claim them to be eligible for the 2nd draw for products that are still available.   

    If you did not win the chance to purchase products in the 1st round, you are automatically eligible for the 2nd round for products not claimed in the 1st round.

  • No products were allocated to me by lottery. Does that mean I won’t get any products at all?

    If no products were allocated to you in the first lottery, you cannot buy these products. However, if some participants choose not to purchase the total quantity allocated to them during the first lottery, these products could be released for a second turn, during which you could win the opportunity to purchase the products.

  • Why do I have to buy at least 1 product in the first round of the lottery to be eligible for the second round?

    We have found that a majority of customers who did not purchase a product in the first round, do not purchase in the second lottery round either. As a result, many coveted products are still not claimed even after 2 rounds. We would like to give customers who were active in the first round a better chance in the second round and reduce the number of unclaimed products.

  • How can I purchase the products allocated to me?

    You can purchase your products allocated via lottery the same way you would buy on SAQ.com. Please note: you will have a limited time period to purchase your allocated products.

  • How can I get my package?

    Once allocated products are in your shopping cart, you will have the option of having them delivered at home or enjoy free in-store delivery within the usual SAQ.COM delays.

    At-home delivery fees are $12 for all purchases.

    In-store delivery is free with purchases of $75 and more. For purchases less than $75, in-store delivery fees are $6.

  • How much are delivery fees for products available via lottery?
