- 45 ml (1 1/2 oz.) brandy
- 15 ml (1/2 oz.) lemon juice
- 15 ml (1/2 oz.) citrus liqueur
- 1 twist of orange
- 5 or 6 ice cubes

Pour brandy, lemon juice and citrus liqueur in a shaker filled with ice cubes.
Shake vigorously 8 to 10 seconds.
Filter over a martini glass using an ice strainer.
Garnish with a twist of orange.

A survivor of World War I, he dubbed the cocktail the «Sidecar» as a tribute to his former captain, who always used this form of transportation.
