E. Pira e Figli Via Nuova Barolo 2012

After the death of their brother Luigi, the Pira sisters gave control of the family vines to Chiara Boschis, one of the rare women to work behind the casks in the region, and a truly talented winemaker. Since the beginning of the 1990's, she has been signing wines of admirable refinement and elegance. Previously a single cru, Via Nuova is now the name of a group of six unique sites that cover the whole appellation. Combining the floral scents of Barolo, the bright fruit of Monforte d'Alba and the structure of Serralunga d'Alba, this cuvee offers plenty of elegance and strength with a broad aromatic profile. A Barolo to be cellared for a while.
