Château Ausone Premier Grand Cru Classé 2013
Detailed info
The close-knit Château Ausone team has succeeded in producing a complex 2013 with substance and elegance. A truly exceptional Alain Vauthier Saint-Émilion.
Situated on limestone hillsides at the extreme southern edge of Saint-Émilion village, Château usone's 6.8 hectares benefit from near-perfect exposure, sheltered from northern winds. Under the stewardship of Alain Vauthier, in full command since 1997, the estate is regarded today as the most brilliant Bordeaux property on the right bank. Working alongside him since 2005, Pauline, his daughter, is now in charge of the vinification. New warehouses were completed in 2012, allowing her to craft one of the appellation's most sought-after wines. The goal at Château Ausone over the next few years is to increase the proportion of Cabernet Franc, already present over 65% of the vineyard.
