Maison Joseph Drouhin Beaune Premier cru Clos des Mouches 2012
Detailed info
One of the mythical wines of the estate! Maurice Drouhin, the founder's son, acquired more than half (14 hectares split equally between white and red) of this Premier Cru bordering the Pommard commune. It is in fact named after the presence of bees on the clos, previously called «honey flies», or «mouches à miel» in French. According to the estate, this is potentially a truly great vintage but available in very limited quantities. The 2012 harvest, one of the smallest in the past years, yields an exuberant wine dominated by toasted, lacteous and woody notes. This is an enveloping white with considerable complexity and persistence.
