Domaine de Château Grillet 2011
Detailed info
With an appellation unto itself since 1936, this 3.5-hectare property is one of the smallest in France. The Neyret- Gachet family owned the estate from 1830 to 2011, when they sold it to billionaire François Pinault. The amphitheatre-shaped estate, in the Condrieu appellation, is sheltered from the mistral and sits facing the Rhone in a southerly direction. The estate's sloping granite soil is beautifully expressed by the Viognier it grows.
«A smoky aroma with vanilla, a slight woodiness and a hint of balsamic. It then follows through with citrus, plums and flowers, and a touch of anise. The mouthfeel is mineral, with a long acidity and notes of lemon and brioche. A fresh, pleasant and very elegant wine.»
