Detailed info
«The 2013 Mártires was cropped from a cool, wet and late growing season - pure Viura from a single vineyard planted in Briones in 1970, which names the wine. It fermented in brand new French oak barrels with native yeasts, where it matured for 11 months, the first four in contact with the lees and with btonnage twice per week. It feels really young, with notes of creamy oak, plenty of spices, fennel, aniseed and even licorice. The mouthfeel is very Burgundian, with weight and acidity, some shy flavors of honeysuckle and beeswax. This should develop into a beautiful white. It has the acidity and the stuffing to do so. Not evidently Rioja, more Burgundian. A fine vintage for whites.... 1,500 bottles produced.»
