Charles Smith, former rock band manager and self-taught winemaker, started K Vintners in 2001 in Walla Walla, at the foot of the Blue Mountains. From the young (2006) Wahluke Slope appellation, this Syrah aged in large capacity barrels (25% new) over an 18-month period. The palate is tasty and well coated around accents of blueberry jam, licorice, black currant, vanilla and cocoa. A complex wine with a 10-year aging potential.
