Detailed info
“The 2017 Branco Grande Reserva Mirabilis is mostly a field blend from old vines, with 20% Gouveio and a dollop of Viosinho, aged for eight months in 85% new oak (mostly French with 10% Hungarian). It comes in at 14% alcohol. A tank sample when tasted (final blend, out of cask), this looks like a super Mirabilis, better than the 2016 but not as good as the 2015. Luísia Amorim said this might be one of their best. She may be right—we'll see after it settles down. It has many virtues, including elegance, fine acidity, a long finish and beautiful integration of wood. This is more of a White Burgundy style, so don't expect searing acidity. Rather, it is round and balanced—and pretty beautiful.”
