“Voerzio's 2009 Barolo Riserva Fossati Case Nere opens with the most beguiling aromatics. Smoke, tar, incense, black cherries and scorched earth are some of the many notes that emerge from the glass. Sweet, silky and polished, the 2009 stands out for its balance and harmony. There is an element of mystery here that is totally captivating. Over time, the tannins begin to emerge as the wine takes on a distinctly more virile personality. I don't image that will be much of a problem, as it will be several years before the wine sees the light of day.”
