A student of Charly and Nady Foucault of Clos Rougeard, Romain Guiberteau has quickly risen to the top of the Loire Valley wine scene. First recognized for his precise Chenin Blanc cuvées, his reds are worth watching, especially his great cuvée Les Arboises. Made from old Cabernet Franc vines in the very chalky commune of Brézé, this wine has enough to make several big names on Bordeaux's right bank blush. The 2017 vintage is vibrant, deep and silky at the same time, marked by a well-balanced aging. A superb bottle to drink now, or even better in 3 years.
