James Suckling 91
Driefontein is like a breath from the slopes of Helderberg: powerful, pure and vibrant. A Syrah born where the sea meets the mountains, shaped by a climate as contrasting as it is captivating. Crafted according to biodynamic principles, with no chemical inputs, this wine comes from a tiny two-hectare plot. In the cellar, Jasper Raats ensures the purity of the fruit and the raw expression of the terroir are preserved. The ageing process, carried out with finesse, takes place in French oak barrels (20% new). A wine without artifice, without embellishment, that perfectly embodies the typicity of Syrah. Vibrant today, it will continue to evolve gracefully for another 5 to 8 years.
