Sesame beef skewers (BBQ)
Ingredients
Grilled meat:
- 16 cubes of beef for skewers
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) dark soy sauce
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) honey
Garnish:
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) sesame seeds
- Green part of the green onions, thinly sliced
Marinade:
- 45 ml (3 tbsp) vegetable oil
- 45 ml (3 tbsp) toasted sesame oil
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) dark soy sauce
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) chopped ginger
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced (white part only, set aside the green part for garnishing)
- 2 Thai hot peppers, seeded and finely chopped
Preparation
- Soak 4 wooden skewers in cold water.
- In a bowl, mix together the marinade ingredients.
- Stir.
- In a non-metallic dish, place the beef cubes and top with the marinade, coating the meat well.
- Cover and refrigerate for about 12 hours.
- Preheat the barbecue to 290°C (550°F) or to maximum heat.
- In a second bowl, mix together the soy sauce and honey.
- Set aside.
- Drain the meat cubes in a sieve.
- Thread 4 cubes on each skewer.
- Cover and grill for 3 to 4 minutes on each side for rare doneness.
- At the end of the cooking, brush the skewers with the soy and honey mix.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and green onion.
- Serve with basmati rice.
