Sesame beef skewers (BBQ)

Cooking time 6 to 8 minutes

Grilled meat:

  • 16 cubes of beef for skewers
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) dark soy sauce
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) honey


  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) sesame seeds
  • Green part of the green onions, thinly sliced


  • 45 ml (3 tbsp) vegetable oil
  • 45 ml (3 tbsp) toasted sesame oil
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) dark soy sauce
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) chopped ginger
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced (white part only, set aside the green part for garnishing)
  • 2 Thai hot peppers, seeded and finely chopped


  1. Soak 4 wooden skewers in cold water.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the marinade ingredients.
  3. Stir.
  4. In a non-metallic dish, place the beef cubes and top with the marinade, coating the meat well.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for about 12 hours.
  6. Preheat the barbecue to 290°C (550°F) or to maximum heat.
  7. In a second bowl, mix together the soy sauce and honey.
  8. Set aside.
  9. Drain the meat cubes in a sieve.
  10. Thread 4 cubes on each skewer.
  11. Cover and grill for 3 to 4 minutes on each side for rare doneness.
  12. At the end of the cooking, brush the skewers with the soy and honey mix.
  13. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onion.
  14. Serve with basmati rice.
