Daiquiri

- 90 ml (3 oz.) white rum
- 40 ml (1 1/3 oz.) lime juice
- 20 ml (2/3 oz.) cane syrup (simple syrup)
- 1 lime slice
- Ice cubes
In a shaker, pour ingredients over ice cubes.
Shake vigorously 8 to 10 seconds.
Filter over a martini glass using ice strainer.
Garnish with lime slice.

The key to the daiquiri is to shake it vigorously with ice, so that the mix gets good and cold. But be careful not to let the ice in the shaker melt into the drink.

The Daiquiri was named after an iron mine in Cuba. After visiting the site, two thirsty engineers combined the only ingredients they had: rum, lemons and sugar. “It Serves for a Rum Sour,” said one. The other replied, “That name is not worthy of a cocktail as fine and tasty as ours. Let's call it the Daiquiri!”
