  1. V 92 "Considering that the 2019 Les Pensées de Pallus is Bertrand Sourdais' entry to is estate's range, it's a hell of a wine. Just from sticking your nose in the glass, it smells sophisticated, brooding and sensual. Red cherry meets vanillin, tea leaves and spice in this complex, layered expression. It is elegant, with finely-woven tannins and balanced, juicy acidity providing a gently refreshing conclusion. Long, refined and scented, I'm sucked in." Rebecca Gibb MW, www.vinous.com
  2. V 93 "The 2019 Le Clos de Pallus is almost like an elixir in terms of its richness, suggesting ridiculously low yields. It has super-ripe, almost coulis-like creaminess. There's wild, woody herbs and olive tapenade meeting oak-smoked meat flavors, which linger on the long, scented finish. Everything is in balance, with the fine, elegant tannins providing a drawn-out finish. It's clearly not just come out of the starting gate but remains young considering the life of this wine." Rebecca Gibb MW, www.vinous.com
  3. V 96 "The 2019 La Rougerie is a silky wine that glides its way across your palate. It's pretty oaky on both the nose and palate when compared to the rest of the Pallus range, but that would be due to the 18 months in barrel—let's not forget Bertrand Sourdais also makes wine in Ribera del Duero. It's in no way drying or overtly oak-derived tannic, allowing the polished, ripe fruit and fine fruit tannins to shine. This is one for the long haul with its intense concentration of fruit. If only all Chinons exuded this confidence and sophistication, as if they were a Bordeaux classified growth—we'd all be better for it." Rebecca Gibb MW, www.vinous.com
  4. V 92, JS 100 "A totally classic Beaujolais, but this mind-blowing wine also redefines what Beaujolais can be. That starts with how it pulls the white rabbit of mind-blowing freshness and purity out of the hat in this very hot and dry vintage. The depth of the red fruit aromas is off the scale. Enormously concentrated but precise and filigreed, with an almost overwhelming minerality in the almost endless finish. From old vines in the Les Caves site of Moulin-a-Vent. Matured in used oak barrels from Burgundy for just under a year. Drink or hold." Stuart Pigott, www.jamessuckling.com
  5. V 94, WA 94, RVF 96 "The 2022 Morgon Côte du Py Javernières is blessed with wonderful transparency and complexity on the nose: vivid red berry fruit, wilted rose petal and crushed stones. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins. It's fresh and focused, gently building to a tensile, lightly spiced and quite persistent finish. Real class." Neal Martin, www.vinous.com
