The SAQ continues sharing through its spring campaign for Food Banks of Quebec
Montreal, May 14, 2020 – To support fellow citizens facing precarious and unforeseeable situations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ) urges Quebecers to show their support during its spring fundraising campaign for Food Banks of Quebec (FBQ). From May 14 to 23, the SAQ encourages customers to make a donation at the checkout counter in stores, by using its home delivery service or watching the See Hunger to Put an End to It awareness video on its Facebook page. For each view of the video, the SAQ will donate the equivalent of one meal to the FBQ. The goal is to raise a total of $800,000 for the organization.
Sharing more than ever
For Catherine Dagenais, President and Chief Executive Officer of the SAQ, it is essential to move ahead with the FBQ fundraising campaign. “Quebecers’ needs are tremendous in the current circumstances, and we want to do our part,” she explains. “Our intention is to continue sharing with those in need. That is why I urge people to be generous in helping the FBQ.”
Boucar Diouf, patron and loyal friend of the FBQ, is adamant that every supportive action matters. “We are going through an extraordinary crisis,” he says. “Now more than ever, Quebecers’ generosity will make a difference in the lives of the disadvantaged. You are the shield protecting the most vulnerable members of society.”
SAQ logo shared with FBQ during campaign
For the first time in its history and for the duration of the campaign, the SAQ logo will be altered, with the FBQ’s acronym taking the place of its own. Limited to the SAQ’s digital platforms, the change will draw attention to an organization that, in the current situation, is proving its true worth.
$12 delivery fee donated to the FBQ
Until further notice, the SAQ will continue donating to the FBQ the $12 home delivery fee charged for orders made on SAQ.com. The SAQ also encourages Quebecers to make personal donations on the FBQ website.
Financial support going back 11 years
Thanks to the generosity of its customers and dynamism of its employees, the SAQ has given more than $7.9 million to the FBQ network over the last 11 years, including a $1 million emergency donation made on March 18. The funds enable the Food Banks of Quebec network not only to respond to the requests for assistance it receives but also to develop projects and acquire equipment for better helping people in need. The SAQ’s financial support is the organization’s largest source of funding.
