Poderi Aldo Conterno Bussiador Chardonnay Langhe 2012
Detailed info
Aldo Conterno did not share the same philosophy as his brother Giovanni from the mythic estate of Giacomo Conterno. He acquired his own jewel of a property, Favot, in 1969, which covers 25 hectares of vines. His renowned Bussia parcels, a cru in Monforte d'Alba, allowed him to produce remarkable Barolos. His unique wines were rooted halfway between tradition and modernity. After his passing in 2012 at the age of 81, Mr. Conterno left the estate to his three sons, who continue to do justice to his hard work.
«The Chardonnay from Bussiador comes from different vineyards in Bussia (Monforte d'Alba). The wine remains for three or four days inside stainless-steel vats and, once the alcoholic vinification has started, it is put into special barrels (barriques) where the vinification is completed. The wine fermented inside the barrels is transferred and then returns into [sic] the barrels (100% made of new wood) again and remains there for a maximum of 12 months. The Bussiador is a wine with a good structure and good body, and so it can stand a long aging.»
