For each Quebec product sold between October 7 and 13, the SAQ will donate a meal to Food Banks of Quebec
Montreal, October 7, 2021 – The pandemic has made a number of Quebecers food insecure, a difficult reality that has led to a 30% increase in requests made to Food Banks of Quebec (FBQ). To support the FBQ, the SAQ is encouraging customers to show their solidarity by buying a local product between October 7 and 13, 2021. For each Quebec product sold, a meal will be donated to the FBQ.

During the same period, customers will also be able to make a donation at the checkout counter or, at any time, on the Food Banks of Quebec website. In addition, as is the case all year long, buying a gift bag, reusable bag or paperboard or wood gift box is another way to contribute to the FBQ, as part of the profit from the sale goes to the organization.
These many actions will help support all the members of the FBQ network across Quebec, which provide assistance to more than 500,000 persons a month.
“At a time when needs are only growing, it’s all the more important for us to take action,” said Catherine Dagenais, the SAQ’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “At the SAQ, we want to be closely involved with communities. By supporting the Food Banks of Quebec network, we’re making a difference in the lives of people for whom getting enough to eat is a daily challenge.”

The funds are used not only to meet the requests for assistance the FBQ receives but also to support projects to acquire the equipment needed to carry out its mission.
