"The level of precision, harmony, elegance and nuance of the 2017 La Faraona was amazing. The nose reminded me of the 2014, with a Cabernet Franc-like herbal characteristic that gave it an austere side. It was also very spicy, with notes of dry leaves and black tea. It has superb balance, great intensity and pure, focused and clean flavors. The tannins are refined for what the vineyards tend to deliver, and it finishes very spicy. This has enormous potential."

"A slightly riper nose combines notes of plum, black cherry, spice and more subtle earth nuances along with a floral top note. The generously proportioned, plump and highly seductive middleweight flavors possess an abundance of sappy dry extract while the strikingly long finish is also shaped by dense but fine-grained tannins on the superbly long, balanced and lightly stony finish. This is also stunningly good and a wine that should be more approachable young compared to the Chambertin."

"Marked by sensationally deep notes of crushed stone, cassis and blueberry, the 2019 Ermitage l'Ermite is a tremendous effort and a worthy rival to the wines produced in the past four vintages. Full-bodied, it's rich and restrained, expansive yet structured—just a complete wine from mouthwatering aromas to velvety mouthfeel and long, stony finish. While delicious now, I'd expect it to close up shortly, yet still be going strong two decades from now. Wow!" www.robertparker.com
