"An elegant, pure and exceptionally floral-infused nose enjoys added depth from the notes of spice, algae and salt water. I very much like the texture of the refined, even sophisticated, medium weight flavors that are stylish, balanced and impressively persistent. Once again, this could use better depth but I very much like the delivery and if this is allowed at least a few years of cellaring, it should add complexity. Lovely stuff."

"A more elegant and airier nose freely offers up its aromas of both red and dark cherry, spice and plenty of floral influence. There is again very good verve and detail to the more mineral-driven flavors that are also well-balanced if youthfully austere on the lingering finale. Lovely stuff that should drink reasonably well after only 3 to 5 years."

"Here too the wood treatment is subtle though still perceptible on the aromas of herbal tea, the sauvage and red and dark pinot fruit. There is a bit more refinement if less size, weight and volume to the middle weight flavors that possess a seductive and velvety mid-palate that contrasts significantly with the firm, dusty, austere and quite serious finale. I would advise allowing this at least 5 to 7 years of bottle age first as it is quite tightly wound today."

"The wood treatment is somewhat more evident as there are mentholated top notes to the cool aromas of dark berry, violet and wild cherry. There is excellent delineation to the exceptionally ripe, intense and tautly muscular flavors that brim with minerality on the dusty, austere and chiseled finale. This is a bit finer than the Poissenot and should be accessible a few years earlier. Worth checking out."

"An extremely ripe yet again, still fresh nose offers up its aromas of mocha, poached plum and black cherry jam. The rich, round and quite supple medium-bodied flavors immediately firm up on the youthfully austere, palate coating and lightly mineral infused finale. This firmly structured effort is going to need at least some patience as it's presently quite tightly wound."

"The Paolo Scavino 2018 Barolo Cannubi (with 3,000 bottles released) opens to a delicate and luminous appearance with lifted aromas wild rose, lilac, wild berry and crushed stone. The wine shows great depth and complexity compared to some of the more subdued wines found in this vintage. This is one for the cellar. 2024-2045"
