After the end of Prohibition the Samuels resume their distilling activities. In the mid 1950s, they start producing Maker's Mark, the famous Bourbon with the signature red wax on the neck of the bottle. The distillery attributes its success to the 4 Ws, 4 elements essential to the production process: the pure water of the neighboring lake, wheat, the wood used for the casks and the red wax which makes the bottle easily recognizable. Bottled at 45% ABV, Maker's Mark stands out thanks to its roundness, richness and notes of ripe red fruit, vanilla and cinnamon.
