"Alcohol level has nothing to do with the quality of a wine! Case in point: this magnificent Chinon of imposing structure in spite of its 12.5%. Its intensity is already evident in the purplish, almost black colour. Ripe red fruit, floral notes, cedar, pencil lead, something animal: not only is there plenty of substance, but complexity too! Lively, with firm tannins and a long, tight mineral finale. A grand Chinon! Decant or cellar for 6 to 8 years."
