Andrea Franchetti took time away from Tenuta di Trinoro in Tuscany to concentrate on launching his Sicilian project in 2000. Having fallen in love with the region, he chose to make his wines on the northern slopes of Mount Etna and its old Nerello Mascalese vines, whose average age is between 80 and 110 years old. Bottled after an 18-month aging in large barrels, it displays a clear hue that hides a formidable complexity. After about thirty minutes of decanting, it opens on wild strawberry, raspberry, pink pepper and dried flowers. Superb!
