Glenelly Estate Reserve Stellenbosh Chardonnay 2022

Glenelly Chardonnay is an exceptional wine produced by the eponymous estate, owned by May de Lencquesaing, also head of Château Pichon Longueville (Grand Cru Classé of Bordeaux). The granite soils of the vineyard provide excellent drainage, allowing the roots to sink deep, which contributes to the quality of the grapes. The vinification is done with spontaneous fermentation, without malolactic fermentation for most of the vats in order to preserve natural freshness. The wine is left on lees until bottling, also benefiting from aging in barrels and tuns. The result is striking!
