Domaine Denis Mortet Gevrey Chambertin En Champs 2009
Detailed info
Denis Mortet has always signed wines known for their beautiful extraction and imposing structure. Over the past ten years, his products have also greatly gained in finesse and elegance, making them a reference for the Gevrey-Chambertin commune. His son Arnaud took over in 2006 and, along with adding his personal touch, converted the 11-hectare vineyard to organic agriculture. The exceptional Pinot Noir harvested in 2009 allowed the wine to be aged for 18 months in French oak. Very promising.
Light ruby in colour, it exudes a complex bouquet of woody and animal notes followed with dominant scents of spices, graphite, ripe black fruits, smoke, cocoa and violet. Refined tannins and a pleasant acidity grace the supple mouthfeel, which lasts in a long finale.
