5 wines that just scream Halloween

No matter your style, there are plenty of ways to have fun for the occasion. Besides a costume and a good dose of candy, you're going to need wine for your evening. And if normally we would suggest bottles based on seasonal pairings and dishes, here we’re going rogue. Because if there is one party where we go all out on the theme, it’s this one.

You don't need a sixth sense to guess the connection here, but it would be very nice to revisit this classic film or have a palmistry evening, inspired by the theme of the bottle. It’s the founders Michael and David Philips, two wine-growing brothers, who had the crazy idea of ​​making all their wines around a circus. As Philippe Lapeyrie, a local wine critic, says so well, “This is a generous «Zin» offering up aromas of gummies and grenadine syrup. A sure hit with fans of chubby, expressive and coated wines”. He said gummies, yes. It’s a sign to embrace your sweet tooth, at least for one night. 

Apothic Cabernet Sauvignon 

Apothic wines are inspired by the Apotheca, a sanctuary where European winemakers created and stored their unique blends in the 13th century. The name of this wine indicates Cabernet Sauvignon, but it is actually a blend of grape varieties (with Zin, Merlot, and Syrah) that makes up this full-bodied, velvety red with aromas of vanilla and red fruits. Are we going to suggest another candy pairing here? Not officially, but we won't judge you if you want to try it. 

The Prisoner Californie 

Finally, here is a high-end wine produced by a house that defies conventions. His unlikely blend of Zin and other grapes is inspired by the wines made by early Italian immigrants in the Napa Valley. It offers flavours of blackberry, pomegranate and vanilla. The label is intended to be a protest against abusive incarceration through art, which would be in perfect agreement with a politically controversial costume.
