Red red wine makes a lamb pairing so fine

When looking for the perfect food to pair with a specific region or appellation, look no further than the country’s culinary traditions. Described by Jancis Robinson as “self-styled roast lamb capital of the world” the Ribera del Duero is known for its amazing Tempranillo cuvées, and its lamb chops.  As evenings get cooler and dimmer yet more festive by the week, we couldn’t find a more fitting pairing.

Made from grapes grown at an altitude of nearly 900 meters, this cuvee reaches for the stars and lives up to its name. Offers complex aromas of black fruits, roasting, spices with some woody notes, and strong yet supple tannins. This Crianza could handle five years of cellaring.  

From the Ribera del Duero’s most visited winery comes a 100% Tempranillo cuvée featuring aromas of red and black fruits, spices and a light toasted note. It has good structure, balanced oak and soft tannins. Clearly a customer favourite, it earned a nearly perfect score from reviews.  

Here is a fleshy yet silky crianza with a pleasant acidity and soft tannins. Offers flavours of black fruits, mostly blackberry, vanilla and toasted notes. Nicely integrated oak in an opulent mouthfeel. Customers and employees give it rave reviews.  

Ranked as the best value-for-money wine of 2015 by Robert Parker, among other accolades, Pruno offers aromas of red fruit, toffee and hints of oak. Tempranillo with a hint of Cabernet Sauvignon, all grown organically.  

On the nose, this red showcases aromas of fresh cherries and herbs.   The medium-bodied mouth reveals silky tannins and flavours of plum, dark chocolate and a touch of cinnamon. Made from organically grown Tempranillo.  

This famous red strikes a nice balance: full-bodied yet fresh and elegant, a lot of character but unctuous and with supple tannins. Offers notes of black fruits and mild spices. No wonder this Tinto also gets rave reviews from customers.
