Montreal, October 13, 2022 – The SAQ has just ended its second campaign of 2022 for the Food Banks of Quebec (FBQ) network. Between October 6 and 12, SAQ store customers were encouraged to buy an Origine Québec, Made in Québec or Bottled in Québec product and to make a donation at checkout. Together the two initiatives raised a total of $755,001 for the FBQ, funds that will be used to assist people in need.

Sharing with those less fortunate
Catherine Dagenais, the SAQ’s President and Chief Executive Officer, offered her sincere thanks to the many customers who took part in the campaign. “As always, our customers answered the call! Through their contributions, they provide inestimable support to all who are forced to rely on food assistance to meet their needs. I also want to highlight the exceptional work of all the in-store teams, who made the campaign’s success possible.”

“Many thanks to the SAQ and its customers for getting involved in the fight against food insecurity and supporting people struggling in these difficult times,” added Martin Munger, Executive Director of Food Banks of Quebec. “Needs are tremendous across Quebec these days. Knowing that we can always count on the SAQ’s support lifts a huge weight from our shoulders and ensures we can get a grip on the challenges we currently face.”

An episode of the podcast Sous le bouchon dedicated to Food Banks of Quebec

In order to better understand the issues related to food aid and the importance of the activities carried out by the FBQ, an entire episode of the SAQ podcast, Sous le Bouchon, gives the floor to Martin Munger, General Manager of Food Banks of Quebec, Élaine Coté, General Manager of Moisson Québec, and Armand Kayolo, General Manager of Moisson Outaouais.

Loyal support for 13 years and counting
The generosity of its customers and involvement of its 7,000 employees have enabled the SAQ to channel more than $14 million into the FBQ network since 2009. The funds are used not only to meet the requests for assistance that the FBQ receives but also to support projects to acquire the equipment needed to carry out its mission. The SAQ is proud to be the FBQ’s leading financial partner.
