Together, let’s give again to Food Banks of Quebec
Montreal, April 10, 2025 – The current economy is having an impact on many households. Though some may feel they are protected from the turbulence, others are forced to confront a new reality. It is to meet their needs and those of thousands of families that the SAQ Is calling on its customers to lend a helping hand and provide support to these thousands of Quebecers who are also our neighbours, friends, colleagues and even family members. Between April 10 and 20, two meals will be donated to Food Banks of Quebec for every Origine Québec product sold. Customers keen to contribute more will also be able to make a donation to the FBQ at checkout.
Constantly changing requests
The need is enormous and continues to skyrocket. Three different and surprising statistics define the face of persons dealing with food insecurity:
• An increase of 1 million in the number of requests fulfilled each month since 2021, now at 2.9 million
• 556,018 million persons helped through all services per month
• 47% of households assisted are families with children.

SAQ campaign for the FBQ: $2,631,469 remitted in 2024
In 2024, the SAQ ran three FBQ campaigns targeting customers in its store network. The funds raised, combined with the proceeds from the year-round sale of gift boxes, resulted in a total contribution to the FBQ of $2,631,469. All told, since the beginning of this partnership and due to the generosity of its customers and employees, the SAQ has remitted more than $20 million to the FBQ. What’s more, the FBQ has awarded the “biggest monetary donor of 2024” title to the SAQ in recognition of its steadfast support and 16-year run of outstanding campaigns.
Nothing’s the same without food
Everyone knows that festive moments are not synonymous with abundance and indulgence for all. To remind us of this reality, a new campaign has been introduced this year with the slogan “Nothing’s the same without food.”
It was in 2011, when the FQB network sounded the alarm due to a crying lack of resources, that the SAQ became aware of the scale of the needs to been met and made food assistance its corporate cause.
In addition, for more than 15 years now, the SAQ has partnered with the Tablée des chefs and, more recently, been involved in Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve Borough in east-end Montreal, where its head office is located, with the Cuisine collective Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (CCHM). Together with this organization well rooted in the neighbourhood, we have helped to create an urban vegetable garden and a large greenhouse that is in production more than 10 months a year. Both facilities are dedicated exclusively to feeding locals in our borough.
