His commitment to Food Banks of Quebec (FBQ) for a little over a year now is a true testament to this. Today, as a sponsor and solidary partner of FBQ, he is calling on your help. Now more than ever, your generosity can aid all Quebecers affected by the falling economy. From August 27 to September 2, join the SAQ and Boucar in their efforts; together, we can make a difference in the lives of Quebecers across the entire province.

Giving is great, but sharing is even better

My mother always said that sharing is better than giving. When you share, you give something you care about; when you give, often it’s just a way of getting rid of something that doesn’t mean all that much to you. She also taught me that when you share with those not as fortunate, you create a protective shield. So every time I go home to Africa, my aging mother always asks if I brought a little money. “Of course,” I answer. “That’s great, Boucar,” she adds. “Why don’t you take advantage of this beautiful evening to go say hello to a few of our neighbours?” It’s her way of encouraging me to share my good fortune with those in need, to take advantage of that handshake in the dark to slip a bill in the palm of their hands. Once I’m done visiting, my mother repeats her lifelong lesson, which has become the mantra of my existence: “When you are facing adversity, Boucar, it’s the prayers, wishes, and good actions and intentions of those whose hearts you have touched that will protect you.”

BAQBAQ

Food assistance, our corporate cause

As a friend and solidary partner of the Food Banks of Quebec, I would like to thank our generous donors – the 4,000 employees and 15,000 volunteers working in the 19 food banks, 13 associated organizations, and 1,200 local organizations. Thank you for understanding that even before medicine and doctors, the greatest remedy lies in humanity. You protect our society’s most vulnerable. We are currently living an unprecedented crisis. Now more than ever, the generosity of Quebecers and our donors will make a difference in the lives of the underprivileged. A very special thank you to the SAQ, which has long been involved in this vast sharing network that comes to the aid of hundreds of thousands of people each month. The SAQ was the first to help the network at the start of the pandemic. This generous anticipation deserves to be recognized.
