When first created, wines are relatively quiet: not very expressive, nor inviting, they lack definition.
But over time, they improve. They become more voluble, although they could still be missing balance and their aromas may still lack definition. Wines in their adolescence are spirited, well-rounded, drinkable and explosive.
Everything being a question of taste, wines in this phase are considered more interesting by some enthusiasts. In adulthood, wine is usually calmer, more balanced and harmonious. Its aromas are more complex, structural elements take shape (alcohol, tannins, acidity), but no one element dominates. This is a wine with wisdom.
