Fondue in a mug

Feel like curling up with friends in front of the TV to watch your favourite awards ceremony and snack on fondue all at the same time? Pour your fondue into a mug — it’ll keep hot for twenty minutes or so. Or you could invest in an actual fondue mug, complete with tea light. A great way for everyone to have his or her very own fondue pot. How fabulous!

The cheese

Our Quebec-cheese fondue features Perron Swiss, Cantonnier du Village and Migneron de Charlevoix. Having said that, you can use any cheese you want. Just make sure to use Swiss or Gruyere as your base. And for even more of a twist, swap the white wine for cider or beer.

What to drink with this cheese fondue?

The acidity in white wine cuts through the fat in cheese and the roundness helps temper
the saltiness. Freixenet Elyssia is a lively white with notes of white flowers and fruit that subtly highlight the fondue flavours. For a more textural pairing, opt for La Plage, a Chardonnay with notes of pear and white flowers. Or finally, pair your cheese fondue with a nice cold beer. We recommend La Bittt à Tibi, a white ale that’s light and refreshing.
