Whether you prefer whites or reds, the choice of cuvées made with Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, Merlot and many others, is just amazing. And coming from a country where grilled fare is a time-honoured tradition, these wines will be perfect for your BBQ prowesses this summer!

South Africans are known to take BBQ to a whole new level with the local braai*, so it’s no wonder that their wines will offer a multitude of great pairings with your own backyard BBQs this summer. While the lively whites will perfectly complement your chicken, fish, or grilled vegetable dishes, the sumptuous reds will be an unequaled match for those with a passion for red meat.

Are you ready to embark on a great adventure? South African wines await!

*In South Africa, a braai refers to a traditional wood fire pit cookout and the social gathering usually associated with it.

A world leader in sustainability

The South African wine industry is undergoing profound changes. To protect the country’s exceptional biodiversity, over 95% of winegrowers now adhere to guidelines introduced as early as 1998. These measures support sustainable farming and conservation, including 22 000 ha of the world-famous Cape Floral Kingdom. And social sustainability is also a major concern, with various initiatives taking place regarding working conditions and improving workers’ lives.

These guidelines are constantly improved, and independent auditors audit the farms and cellars. If the farms pass the audit, they can use the new sustainability seal. Since 1974, the Wine of Origin scheme guarantees the information on the label that states where the grapes came from, the vintage year and the variety or varieties, so you know exactly what’s in your bottle and its provenance.
